Shop exteriorSince 1992, Ceres Street Wine Merchants, New Hampshire's oldest and largest private wine shoppe, features wines from around the world, stored in a proper cellar (even equipped with special non-UV lighting).

David Campbell is proprietor. "Having once lived in the Bordeaux region and later in the Loire, I've been around the grape most of my life. I handpick a bunch of wines thought to be of some special interest and leave the mass market to others."

Ceres Street Wine Merchants offers wine-related items including Riedel stemware, leverpulls, antique French wine jails, great hats, t-shirts and sweatshirts displaying the "Squeeze Me, Crush Me, Make Me Wine" legend, and specialty olive oils and gourmet fun foods!

Where: The shop is located at 65 Ceres St. on Portsmouth, New Hampshire's historic waterfront, near the famous tugboat.

Hours: Tuesday thru Saturday from noon until 7 p.m.; Sundays, iffy; Mondays, closed.
